I just tried the OS/2 binary; it solves the nodelist.pl problem I was having,
but the "Too many open files" bug remains. When I connect to Gert Andersen
(2:230/***@fidonet), it displays "Too many open files" error messages on screen
and loops creating 0 byte .hr files in the inbound directory until I kill it
with CTRL-C. When it terminates, there are 50 *.bsy flags left orphaned in my
outbound directories.

I wonder if this is some sort of overflow caused by Gert having so many
addresses? He's currently presenting 82 addresses. My old 2005-vintage binkd
1.0a-446/OS2 version doesn't have a problem with him, but it also doesn't
support BZ2 compression or PERL.

Max, thanks for making this available; with any luck we'll be able to figure
out the problem and devise a solution.

It may have other problems too. It sent the file OK, but before I could send
the M_GOT, your end disconnected. No M_EOB either. See below. Sorry if the
line wrap makes it tough to read.

This was because I hit CTRL-C to abort because another call came in from the
problem node. AFAICT, this problem only occurs with Gert Andersen
2:230/***@fidonet, probably becuase he has so many addresses (82 as of today
when I checked.) When I get a moment, I need to take a look at the code and
see it I can track down this issue.

That would explain what I saw.

I wonder if this is some sort of overflow caused by Gert having so

2005-vintage binkd 1.0a-446/OS2 version doesn't have a problem with
him, but it also doesn't support BZ2 compression or PERL.
The issue is that binkd keeps the bsy files open.
You may want to increase SHELLHANDLESINC in your CONFIG.SYS.

That did the trick; it appears to be working fine now.
